Guangzhou Petrochemical is the collective name for Sinopec Guangzhou Company of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation and Guangzhou Branch of Sinopec Group Asset Management Co., Ltd. Its predecessor, Guangzhou General Petrochemical Plant, was founded on June 18, 1973. Covering a plant area of 4.45 million square meters, it operates more than 60 major production units. It serves as a key imported crude oil processing base and China National VI‑standard clean fuel production base in South China. Its main petroleum products include 60 varieties such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and liquefied petroleum gas. Its chemical products cover 70 varieties in three major categories: polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene. ASCENT GROUP is the overseas sales agent for Sinopec Guangzhou Company.

After more than 50 years of continuous development, it now boasts a comprehensive crude oil processing capacity of 12.75 million tons per annum and an ethylene production capacity of 220,000 tons per annum, with a self‑owned thermal power station of 299,000 kilowatts. In 2023, it processed 11.0390 million tons of crude oil, produced 202,400 tons of ethylene, and achieved a profit of 2.148 billion yuan. From its commissioning in 1978 to the end of 2023, it has cumulatively processed 316 million tons of crude oil, produced 5.0367 million tons of ethylene, and turned over taxes and profits of 208.992 billion yuan (excluding customs VAT). It has made positive contributions to national energy security and local economic and social development.
